CHARLOTTE (CHA CHA) - Adoption in Progress
CHARLOTTE/CHA CHA
CHARLOTTE - Update March 2025
CHARLOTTE is currently in Lebanon. Once we find an adopter for her, she will come to Canada.
CHARLOTTE became a mother at a young age (less than 2 years old). She is so gentle and calm even with her baby boy. Her loving, sweet nature is apparent when you first meet her. She loves cuddles and will flop at your feet to get some!
CHARLOTTE was living on the streets in Lebanon. She became pregnant and we suspect she became very sick because of infections and injuries as well as poor nutrition. When GAEA Animal Welfare found her she was dying. In a heroic effort to save mother and babies, her rescuer brought her to the vet. The birthing process took 3 days and CHARLOTTE was obviously in agony the entire time. So much so, her rescuers did not think she would make it. CHARLOTTE gave birth to 12 puppies. Six died at birth while five more died over the next few days following birth. Only one puppy survived: TAPPER (TAP TAP). Even though she was exhausted, CHARLOTTE took care of her puppies but most were simply not strong enough to survive.
RDL-C was involved from the start, paying for all of the vet bills. CHARLOTTE had several medical issues: A hernia, anaplasma, ehrlichia, anemia, infection and a dehydrated liver. Shortly after birth she started bleeding out and was diagnosed with pyometra. Emergency surgery was performed and she survived. CHARLOTTE could no longer feed her remaining puppy so GAEA rescuers bottle fed TAPPER.
Today, CHARLOTTE is healthy and strong. She is a wonderful mother to her boy TAPPER even if she could not feed him. CHARLOTTE melts hearts with her affectionate demeanor and we are happy to say she is ready for adoption.
Personality: Friendly, social with people, social with dogs, affectionate, trusting, calm, shy/timid, laidback/easygoing.
CHARLOTTE came from the street but lived in a foster home for a while where she was housetrained. Unfortunately, she had to be moved to a paid boarding facility so will need a little help to remember what it's like to live in a home. She would benefit from patient adopters who will let her get used to a new home and slowly introduce her to new things (she's timid). CHARLOTTE has a lot of love to give and would love a family of her own!
Currently lives at a paid outdoor shelter with some cover to protect against the sun and rain.
