MAX, the canadian dog
Max was born in Lebanon but we like to think he was destined to be Canadian. He has adapted to all our seasons and truly loves winter!
Max’s Story:
Max was abandoned in a garage bin when he was just a couple weeks old, he was weak and sick. Fortunately he was rescued and was brought to the vet to be taken care of. Max recovered and grew to be an adorable boy, however, he spent his days alone with the doorman, in the garden and forest surrounding the house. His rescuer knew he couldn’t keep Max and give him the home he needed as he already has a golden retriever who is possessive and a bit agressive with other dogs. Thankfully he asked his Aunt Zeina to help find Max his forever home.
Zeina promised she would do everything she could to give Max a new life abroad.
Thankfully Zenia found Cynthia at Rescue Dogs Lebanon Canada. Cynthia found a family and arranged his travel. He left Lebanon on the February 7th, 2020. On that day, Zeina took him to the airport, and although there were complications with the airline including Max almost not getting on the plane, Zeina made sure Max got on that plane!
Max flew to Montreal (with Thea and her husband) and stayed in Montreal for a few days with Maya. He then travelled to Ontario with Jack another rescue from Lebanon and Craig with Critter Cabs volunteer transport. Max first went to stay with a family in Brantford however it wasn’t meant to be. It definitely wasn’t for a lack of love but more out of Max’s crazy energy. Thankfully this family found their perfect fit too!
This is how he ended in his forever home and family. We love this crazy, fun and silly boy and have had no regrets. Yes, there were challenges and yes, some are still being worked on. However he is very loyal to his family and not afraid to get us moving in the morning for his breakfast and his morning walk or when he is bored and wants to play or go for another walk. He loves playing and barking in the backyard. He is thrilled to go on family hikes and going for a car ride. He is very expressive and he can say a lot just by how he looks at you.
Max does not love the vet and he is still working on meeting new people, but during a global pandemic when social distancing is a must it can be challenging. We have done dog training and he goes to doggy daycare once a week (which is absolutely loves) so that definitely helps.
So this is Max’s story to date! We know there will be many adventures and a whole lot of laughter.
And, we want to say a huge thank you for all of those that have been involved in Max’s rescue and making sure his life was going to be good one. It’s nice to continue having you apart of his life! “ - KristinaKostuk + Family
