A perfect dog - RUBY
January 18th marked Ruby's arrival in Canada. And as many of you know, the first two weeks were very difficult, not only because we were afraid of losing her, but also because there were many risks of complications following her surgery.
Fast-forward: After two weeks of total rest and then a gradual resumption of her activities, we are happy to tell you that Ruby is doing well, that she can now go for walks of one hour or less and discover her new surroundings. However, we will need to monitor her hip evolution and adapt her exercises accordingly.
She's a shy dog, but she loves contact and seems to understand that she's safe with us. The 3/3/3 rule on the adjustment period of a rescue dog is really right in our case and we look forward to seeing her flourish in the coming months.
Ruby has a LOVELY personality and is most gentle with our 6 years old daughters. She has great patience and loves to snuggle between the girls on the couch.
She is also VERY greedy and loves her Kong toy in which we put pieces of chicken breast in, which keeps her passionately busy.
She doesn't pull at all on the leash, but if she loves to go for car rides, she is afraid of those we may come across during the walks. For fear that she might get rid of her collar, we bought her a harness for more safety. And even though she is microchipped, we also ordered a medal, just in case.
She is not yet used to being alone in the house and while we were away she took a Zen coloring book and other items including a chair from my grandfather that we had kept intact for many years! But despite this, we think Ruby is perfect. And as one of our daughters says: "Ruby is the best dog in the world".
Forever grateful
We wanted to wait until we were sure Ruby was okay to give you some news and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To the RDL-C family and all of its supporters, a word to express our infinite gratitude and all our appreciation for your solidarity and kindness while misfortune struck our beautiful Ruby.
Not only were we touched by your generosity, but also by all the support we received. It is impossible for us to name everyone who made a donation, who sent us their thoughts, who wrote directly to support us morally and to know how we were doing, but please know that we appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you.
To Cynthia, the soul of RDL-C, we have nothing but thanks to her for her exceptional attention and her constant commitment to Ruby and to us. This was all the more appreciated as we were already going through some challenges, including a family hospitalization. Thank you to you and your team -who kept encouraging us- for having at heart what’s happening to the dogs adopted through RDL-C.
It really is a beautiful family! “
