THEO is currently in Jordan. Once an adopter is found for him, he will come to Canada.

THEO is an incredibly playful and energetic boy. He is sweet and will often show his affectionate side. He loves cuddles and will often actively seek affection which makes him a wonderful companion.

THEO was found, as a very small puppy, back in December 2023, along with his siblings, in someone's backyard. The owner of the property wanted to "get rid" of them and actually beat the rescuers with a stick as they took the puppies away! THEO was the only puppy confident enough and friendly enough to approach his rescuers willingly. He melted his rescuers' hearts so they found him an adopter almost immediately. However, the adopter lived in Lebanon and due to the current instability in the region, THEO cannot travel there. So THEO was put in foster care with an inexperienced individual who simply did not know how to raise a puppy properly. THEO was left for days at a time, locked in a room with no access to the outdoors to do his business and without food. His rescuers found out and removed him from that foster. THEO is now staying at a paid boarding facility but will soon move to another paid foster home where he will be indoors to sleep.

Personality:  Friendly, social with people, social with dogs, affectionate, playful, trusting, confident, nervous/anxious, curious, active/energetic, resource guarding around food (THEO was starved and is understandably nervous around food. He will need some time to understand he will be safe and well fed by his adopter. Feeding THEO in a crate and away from other animals or children is recommended until THEO learns to relax and trust his adopter. He has not bitten anyone but can growl if you try to remove his bowl before he is finished.)

THEO has not had much of a puppyhood but that has not dampened his spirit at all. He is a happy boy. He is great with other dogs. He is described as social and friendly by nature. He would benefit from an experienced adopter who has the time to raise him properly, train him and exercise him. A fenced backyard is a must for this boy. THEO deserves a good home and he cannot wait to find a family of his own.

Currently lives at a paid boarding facility. He is outdoors with a doghouse for shelter. Soon to be moved to a new paid foster home.

• Breed:  Canaan/Golden Retriever Mix

• Weight: 14 kg/31 lbs - Note that THEO is underweight at the moment. His first foster was so negligent he left THEO alone for days without any food. His rescuer is feeding THEO well now and he is gaining weight.

• Cats:  Unsure. THEO had brief exposure to cats and was rather indifferent to the cats. That said, he may still want to chase a cat that is running away from him.  

• House Trained:  No - His foster neglected him and would leave him indoors without taking him out for walks. THEO became accustomed to peeing indoors (not on a pad). He learns quickly, however, so he should be easily housetrained.
