Pretty in Pink STACEY is a beautiful Bichon mix. She's shy with people she doesn't know and a little more anxious around men. That said, she shows a lot of affection and is very playful with her foster mom.
STACEY lived with her family for 8 years before she was unceremoniously dumped. The only family she ever knew abandoned her when it moved to another location. RDL-C took her in and is covering her vet bills and foster care. Unfortunately, we don't know much about her previous life.
STACEY was very scared when she first arrived at her new foster. She was trembling in fear all the time and would nip if anyone came close. She was missing her former family and undoubtedly confused. We hope to give her a better home; one that will cherish her and never give her up.
We are slowly learning more about STACEY. She's afraid of thunderstorms. She's fine with other dogs and cats. It took about one week for her foster mom to get close to STACEY. She takes her time with new people. Won't let strangers pet her or give her cuddles. She won't let strangers pick her up so the groomer had to wear special gloves and her foster Mom helped by picking her up when needed. As long as people respect her space and let her approach at her own pace she is fine. It's only when she feels trapped that she will nip.
Personality: Social with dogs, Playful, Nervous/Anxious, Affectionate with humans she trusts, Independent.
STACEY would benefit from an all-female household. She is more nervous around men (we don't know why...we can only guess she was abused by a man in her past). She deserves a good, quiet home with a patient adopter who will give her time and space to decompress upon arrival at her new home and do things at her own pace. She does not attack people and can be walked on a leash but will get scared if strangers try to pet her.
Currently lives at a paid foster home.
